“I pass with relief from the tossing sea of Cause and Theory to the firm ground of Result and Fact.”This month marks the end of both my work with WASA and my educational career. A year ago, when I made the retirement decision, I was optimistic that I would be leaving after the McCleary decision significantly improved the funding picture for all of our 295 school districts. Now, as we enter that new funding era, it’s clear that some districts fare very well with the new system while others are left behind. For all of the hype about the legislation, the true results of the solution don’t seem very well understood, nor are they what we collectively hoped to see.
